Overview
The ViSP features a safety function that can inhibit all motion. There is a group of All-Stop Buttons and a Safe/Run switch connected to a safety-rated relay. The system has been modified so that All-Stop is no longer tied the Global E-Stop system.
The safety relay also implements self-testing and diagnostics. If a fault is discovered the safety relay will inhibit motion until the issue is resolved.
All-Stop Buttons
The ViSP has a total of four ‘all-stop’ buttons that stop motion of components of the ViSP when actuated. This function is similar to an emergency stop but is labeled as all-stop to avoid confusion with the Global E-Stop function.

The ‘all-stop’ buttons are designed to latch in the depressed position when used. They must be twisted to release the latching mechanism. After the mechanism has been released the green reset button on the all-stop box (located on the All-Stop Distribution Box under the optical table) to re-enable the safety relay.
Safe/Run Switch
The ViSP ‘all-stop’ system has been modified to include a Safe/Run switch to be used to disable motion during maintenance. It provides a similar function to the ‘all-stop’ buttons.
The Safe/Run switch automatically resets the all-stop function when switched from ‘safe’ to the ‘run’ position.
Reset
The ViSP all-stop safety relay is designed to be manually reset by using the green reset button on the all-stop box (located on the All-Stop Distribution Box under the optical table).
