DKIST General

Operational Status

  • DKIST is in week 4 of Engineering period Eng. 2025a.

  • DKIST was experiencing fluctuations in the power due to high winds and MECO shut the power off completely on 1/30. There will be a restart on 2/3.

  • DKIST senior leadership has been preparing for the DKIST Concept of Operations review (see below)

Events

  • The AURA SOC meeting was held on Maui: 1/28 - 1/30

  • NSF Concept of Operations Review: 2/10 - 2/14

SciOps and OpsTools team

Accomplishments

  • Preparation for ConOps review ongoing.

  • Scientists are creating the experiments for Cycle 3 accepted proposals.

  • Registered DKIST user database clean-up continues.

  • Planning of Cycle 4 is ongoing.

  • Discussed and implemented changes to polcal acquisition in Cycle 3 (inclduing minor update to the python observing program script).

  • Continued work on implementing a simpler status state machine in OPMT.

  • Released a temporary python tool to aid the verification of created experiments.

  • Preparation for a DKIST mini-workshop within the SDO 2025 Science Workshop - A Gathering of the Helio-Hive

TechOps team

Accomplishments

  • Preparation for ConOps review ongoing.

InstOps team

Accomplishments

  • Preparation for ConOps review ongoing.

Data Center team

Accomplishments

  • Preparation for ConOps review ongoing.

  • Drafted and finalized Strategy for polcals, groupcals, and trend data with stakeholders

  • Manually fixed and processed Cryonirsp runs with mislabeled exposure times

  • Atttended and presented at the Cyber Infrsatructure (CI) Compass Virtual Workshop - “Data Management: From Instrument to First Storage”

EHS team

Accomplishments

  • Preparation for ConOps review ongoing.

  • Gary attended the NSF Research Infrastructure Office, Safety Officer Working Group at LIGO in Baton Rouge, LA.

  • We created a new “General Use Fall Protection” training for all DKIST employees that do not qualify as authorized users and do not work in fall protection equipment. It will cover walking working surfaces, recognizing fall hazards as well as proper ladder use.
