Q1 Questions:
All: Given the holidays in December and expectations of vacations, what do we want to do in December, especially at the end of the month?
What happened to November?
All: Are we going into an engineering period for the month of January?
SciOps has planned to go back on sun only in February for Cycle 3 observing. We are not prepared to be ready in January.
InstOps:
What is the Q4 plan for VTF? Will we have the KIS team out in November?
Possibly. VTF work in November would be completion of Etalon 1 installation (no Etalon 2 work). KIS will need to determine their status on Etalon 2 work in Freiburg before deciding whether to come to Maui in November. Next meeting to discuss in July.
InstOps needs two/three weeks to warm , open Cryo-NIRSP, open to install new resolvers to repair motor issues, and cool down.
Plan was for 2025/Q1 (January), assuming there is 3 weeks of engineering
Potential other CN work depending upon leak checks and cold-head duty cycle.
InstOps would like to install MCAO 4km DM table and M9b table.
Arrival of tables by November will be possible but challenging. January would be easier (working along with CN).
This keeps the MCAO and M9b work on schedule for initial frame installation in winter 2025/26.
Would require crane, opening of floor, realignment of M9a onto new table.
Potential MISI-116 installation
November may be optimistic, January may be possible.
Still lots of smaller parts to be built, including several moving mechanisms.
Next opportunity for installation would may be winter 2025/26.
Numerous smaller tasks to be done in either Nov or Jan engineering period
ViSP filter holders. ViSP beam-balancing optics and testing.
Optics as-built metrology.
DL-NIRSP modulator cooling.
Potential removal and shipment of VTF cameras for single-gain upgrade.
SciOps:
What are the SolO and Parker windows we want to hit in Q4? Are there other co-observing opportunities?
No there are no other. Supporting SO and PSP is enough additional work.
PSPE21 on 9/30. This is a Cryo-NIRSP observation only.
October 1: Solar Orbiter co-observing: R_BOTH_HRES_HCAD_Filament_Prominence - high-resolution observations of prominence at West limb, close to Earth quadrature (~4hrs) - pVSTP - FOR DKIST: on-disk filament observation SOOP Coordinators: T. Kucera, S. Parenti
October 2 - 19: different co-observing programs: AR Long Term (multiple days - may not be consecutive), SMALL_MRES_MCAD_Earth-Quadrature - high-resolution observations of target at West limb, close to Earth quadrature (~2hrs) - pVSTP SOOP Coordinator: P. Chitta, SMALL_HRES_HCAD_RS-burst 30 mins of EUI super high cadence observations - pVSTP Moved to 19 October during DKIST-available time (1800-2200 hrs, depending on when best fits the SPICE observations for Fast Wind).
Need to continue with FIDO 3a AND 3c experiments. Configuration for Solar Orbiter should be 3c - need for FIDO changes of CL2a position - hot swap testing FIDO-150.
Support on two saturdays instead of sundays.
Other science operations priorities:
Experiment generation for Cycle 3 start: ideally we need to know at that point what DL modes to include.
Cycle 4 Proposal Call preparation in full swing.
Rolling shutter for ViSP: increase of operational efficiency (no more NDs) and increased frame rate at same exposure time at the cost of lower SNRs and exposure time testing starting from scratch.
DL-NIRSP SV with Cycle 2 experiments continued → visible camera needs to be implemented, focused (float?) → required for Cycle 4 preparation, need to know what to offer.
Testing of 50/50 and 70/30 BS.
ViSP modulator replacement: beam wobble mitigation.
Step one in prep for ViSP beam attenuators: put the mounts in.
TechOps: What is the longest non-concurrent PM/Upgrade we have this quarter?
InstOps/TechOps:
Can the InstOps/TechOps tasks be accomplished concurrently in the November Engineering period?
Q1 Highest Priorities for each group:
Group Priorities for Q1 (Schedule details to be worked out between the groups)
