This page shows the overall status of the global emergency stop as well as the collective emergency stop signals from each LIC. You can navigate to each of the LICs by pressing the associated button.

The display also shows the status of the emergency stop devices connected directly to the GIC/FAC LIC. These are located at the Mezzanine Level, in the Coudé Lab, or in the Control Room.

Each of the button switches have four possible states:

  • E-Stop PB is pressed

  • E-Stop PB is OK

  • E-Stop PB is faulted

  • E-Stop PB error

Recovery is the same for all push buttons.

E-Stop PB is pressed

If the E-Stop PB is pressed, determine the reason the button was pressed. Rectify the reason the button was pushed. Unlatch the push button by rotating the button. Press GIS reset button.

E-Stop PB is OK

If the E-Stop PB is OK, no corrective action is required.

E-Stop PB is faulted

If the E-Stop PB is faulted, use the diagnostics screen associated with safety instruction to determine the reason for the fault. If necessary, repair what caused the fault. To recover the push button must be cycled. Press the E-Stop button.

This will cause a system wide emergency stop.

Unlatch the push button by rotating the button. Press the GIS reset button.

E-Stop PB error

This indicates an indeterminate state. The mostly likely cause is loss of communications between the HMI and the GIC.
