DKIST General

Operational Status

  • DKIST has been down 7/11 due to a brush fire near the Crater Road and the resulting power outage. HECO has reported damage to at least 3 utility poles and have been working to make repairs. Crater Road is still closed to general traffic and no visitors are allowed within the Park.

Events

  • The NSO Director is on Maui this week and part of next.

Personnel

  • Paolo Turri a new DKIST scientist working on adaptive optics will be starting on July 29th.

SciOps and OpsTools team

Accomplishments

  • The Technical and Science Review of submitted Cycle 3 Proposals continues without issues and according to the plan.

  • Samantha Limon (Akamai Intern) and David Morris (mentor) created a new SciOps Daily Report (form) that facilitates the process of logging the activities in operations. The new form will be installed before starting OCP2.8. 

TechOps team

Accomplishments

  • the Crater Road Fire is 80% contained, MECO are hoping to restore power to the summit district in the next 24 to 48 hours. The road to the summit is still closed with no current eta for opening. Discussions ongoing with authorities regarding access to summit facilities.

  • Catch up on LOTO training and release of new Enclosure LOTO and start of thermal systems LOTO procedures release and training.

  • First Aid / CPR training moved forward to take advantage of the summit closed.

  • re-plan of the engineering period, descope of activities such as crane inspection and addition of full thermal restart. Also accounting for the effect of moving the start / end and shake and bake.

InstOps team

Accomplishments

  • Reorganized engineering period tasks due to summit fire.

  • Published DHS transfer statistics for OCP 2.7:

    • 215.58 TiB raw,
      135.86 TiB sent to DC (compressed),
      11,333,304 files.

  • Organized initial list of VTF November tasks.
