(aka: Light Distribution Tool)

Overview

The light distribution system on the Coudé floor of DKIST plays a central role in how multiple instruments receive light simultaneously. FIDO consists of a suite of dichroic beamsplitters, windows and mirrors, most of which are interchangeable so as to maintain the ability to flexibly flexibly feed instruments with a variety of passbands in their design spectral ranges. More information is available here.

Tool

The FIDO configuration must be provided for each DKIST submitted proposal. The FIDO Tool must be used to create the confirmation file and submit it with the proposal. More information is available here. (This tool was formerly referred to as the Beamsplitter Configuration Tool.)DKIST makes available a tool that can be used to verify whether a certain wavelength distribution and combination of instruments can be supported by the existing FIDO suite. This tool is referred to as the FIDO Tool (formerly also known as the Beamsplitter Configuration Tool).

The FIDO configuration must be provided for each DKIST submitted proposal. How this information has to be provided is specified in the Proposal Call.
