This article can also be used to solve the following issue: I can't remember my DKIST Help Desk login, please help me figure out how to log in.

Two Types of Accounts

There are two types of accounts which let users access the DKIST Help Desk. Please follow the instructions which match the type of account you have.

  1. If you are not an NSO employee with a Jira Software Account, and you are not part of the Critical Science Plan (CSP) staff with a Jira Software Account. You therefore have a DKIST Help Desk “Customer” Account. Please use the first set of instructions to reset figure out your passwordlogin.

  2. If you are an NSO employee with any Atlassian Account (Jira, Confluence, Service Desk), or you are part of the Critical Science Plan (CSP) staff with a Jira Software Account. You therefore have an Atlassian “Licensed User” account which lets you also use the Help Desk. Please use the second set of instructions to reset figure out your passwordlogin.

1. Customer: Instructions for Non-NSO and Non-CSP DKIST Help Desk Accounts

a. At the Log-In screen from the main page of the DKIST Help Desk website (found here), select the option to “Log in” from the top right corner. A screen will appear where the user will enter their email address and select “Next.”

b. From the next screen that appears, select the link option labeled “Forgot your password?” The screen will then change to let you know an email for resetting your password has been sent to the email provided.

c. In your email account, select the message from “DKIST Help Desk”. The email will appear like shown below. Select the button titled “Reset my password”.

d. The link will return you to the DKIST Help Desk website. Here, you may enter a new password. Selecting the “eye” icon will show the current password typed in rather than the privacy/security bullets. Ensure your new password is the password you would like to use, and then select “Confirm.”

e. At this point, the page will refresh and the user will be back at the original page’s screen. The user can now log in with their new password.

You will need to recall which email you used to register with the DKIST Help Desk.

b. If you cannot recall your email address, you can file a Help Desk ticket (here) providing your first and last name and possible email addresses you may have registered with. A Help Desk Agent will look through our customer database to verify your email.

c. Alternatively, you can try using your email address(es) and ask for a password reset to log in. Follow these instructions for How can I reset my DKIST Help Desk password?

2. Licensed User: Instructions for NSO and CSP Jira Software DKIST Help Desk Accounts

a. At the Log-In screen from the main page of the DKIST Help Desk website (found here), select the option to Log in from the top right corner.

b. Enter in your email account name, then select “Next”. Due to our integration with other products, the following screen will appear for selecting a log-in method. To change the password, select the “Can’t log in?” link at the bottom.

c. The screen will change to the one shown below. Select the “Send recovery link” button, and a confirmation screen will appear denoting that the email has been sent.

d. Check the inbox of the email address that was entered. An email from “Atlassian” will have appeared. The email will look like the screen below. Select the button titled “Reset my password”.

e. The user will be returned to the Atlassian system with the screen shown below. Select a new password, and select “Continue”. The password will be changed, and the user will now automatically be logged in with that new password.

A screen will appear where the user will enter their email address and select “Next.” You will need to recall which email you used to register with the DKIST Help Desk.

  • For NSO employees, this is your NSO email address (<first_initial><lastname>@nso.edu); for example John Smith’s login is jsmith@nso.edu.

  • For CSP Jira users, this is the email you provided NSO when signing up for the Critical Science Plan to create Use Cases.
