Connect to GIS / EMCS network with RSLinx
This change will give you a direct connection from the office / WiFi to the 10.4.x.x network (GIS & EMCS).
Requirements
This method only works for users who are identified by windows Active Directory or VPN authentication. If you do not have this access, contact IT to allow this access.
RSLogix or Studio 5000 and RSLinx
Access to the office network (10.10.206.xx)
Create a new RSLinx driver
or modify an existing Ethernet Device driver
In RSLinx:
Click ‘Communications’ > 'Configure drivers …'
At ‘Available Driver types’
Click the arrow to see the list of drivers
Select ‘Ethernet devices’
Note:
Ethernet devices driver allows you to specify any IP in its look up table
Ethernet/IP Driver allows you to specify IP only on the subnet it is on.
(optional) Rename the driver to a meaningful name
In ‘Configure Driver’:

You can configure the driver to use the default IP, or ethernet port mapped to 10.10.206.xx or to the WiFi IP.
Close this window.
Open the RSWho screen
Right click the new driver and click 'Configure driver'.
Enter the PLC addresses
10.4.0.10
10.4.1.10
10.4.2.10
10.4.3.10
10.4.4.10
10.4.5.10
… any more that you wish to enter
then 'OK'.
In RSLogix
Click 'Communications' > 'Who Active'.
Expand your new driver.
Select the PLC you want to connect.
Click 'Set Project path'
Now you're off to the races.
The secret menu
The above instructions work great for PLCs and devices that are directly connected to the safety network 10.4.0.0/16. But you can also connect to the EMCS network through the safety network because the EMCS and Enclosure LIC share the same backplane.
After you complete the above procedure. Scroll down to 10.4.5.10 and expand it. Select the Ethernet card in slot 01 and expand it. Select ‘A, Ethernet’, right click and select 'Properties'.
In the properties window, you can now add the EMCS devices' IP addresses and your RSLinx will scan those too.
