DKIST General

Operational Status

  • DKIST is in week 4 of science observing period OCP 2.9 

  • DKIST was down for a brief period 10/15 - 10/16 due to a tree branch falling on the MECO power lines to the summit.

Events

  • The DKIST Acting AD will in DC on travel with the NSO Director for a meeting with NSF - 10/25

Personnel

  • Multiple job postings for positions in Technical Operations on Maui are currently open.

SciOps and OpsTools team

Accomplishments

  • Preparation of the Experiment Generation process for Cycle 3 proposals. Consolidating guidelines in Confluence, create a Jira Project to track the progress and deployment of the Help Desk portal to connect with the Principal Investigators.

  • Deliver the first draft of the career ladder plan for Science Operations Specialists.

  • Preparing plan and goals for the new Chief Science Operations Specialist.

TechOps team

Accomplishments

  • PV structural contract kick off with M3Eng

  • Coude LIC failure investigation (overtemp, backplane and wiring problems ruled out, still investigating)

  • ETechs assisted Vertiv in the PM of 200,15,and 10 KVA UPS's.

  • EV chargers installation continues.

  • TLW (Low temp T-15degC) low suction pressure troubleshooting.

  • Performance review manager input ongoing.

  • Preparation for FY24 Actuals review for the TechOps Group leads

InstOps team

Accomplishments

  • Developed initial IR Camera Project management documentation.

  • Received proposals for IR Camera thermal analysis effort.

  • Approved shipment of IR Camera short-wave infrared detectors. This begins the ITAR-compliance rules in the 1st floor lab.

  • Created mechanical drawing and final plans for DL-NIRSP MISI-116 installation

  • Finished Supplemental Funding Proposal text and budget estimates.

  • Completed December and January planning for Instrumentation work on the summit.

Data Center team

Accomplishments

  • Updated inventory and portal systems such that small datasets (< 1 GB) do not show up on the portal as 0 GB.

  • The DL team had reported that the demodulation matrices vary by a small but significant-enough amount spatially within each IFU group. As a result the DC Fit demodulation matrices for all spatial pixels in DLNIRSP pipeline

  • Reimplement VBI in the Processing Preparation Worker to include IP execution IDs in order to address the reason that some VBI processing runs were failing

  • Completed the remaining updates to he applications services to pydantic 2. this effort is now complete and all services have been updated.

EHS team

Accomplishments

  • Prepared and submitted the bi-monthly Safety and Health report.

  • Continued to investigate platforms for a safety management system.
