March 1, 2025: DKIST Science Operations Update
As the DKIST is moving out of its DKIST Extended Engineering Period, we would like to share the following information:
Operations Status
DKIST Cycle 2 has formally closed. The vast majority of Cycle 2 data will be public by the end of May 2025. A special announcement will be sent out.
DKIST will start Cycle 3 observing in March 2025 during its first out of four planned observing windows.
DKIST will continue to be in the Operations Commissioning Phase through the end of Cycle 3 (October/November 2025).
Tentative Key Dates for Cycle 4 Proposals
Release of a Pre-Announcement for early Cycle 4 proposal planning: End of March/Beginning of April 2025.
Release of the Cycle 4 Proposal Call, updated Proposal Tool, and opening of the submission window: End of April 2025.
Proposal submission deadline: end of May 2025.
Additional information and more Cycle 4 details will be published with the pre-announcement in March/April 2025.
