Help: I can't log into the Proposal Architect and I'm using the NASA VPN

Summary

This article is for DKIST users who have set up a https://app.globus.org/account/identities account, but for some reason the DKIST Proposal Architect (PA) login is not working. This is likely because you are using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which is not compatible with the Proposal Architect. Unfortunately the DKIST PA does not work when using the NASA VPN. Our only recommendation is to disconnect the VPN to use the PA.

Instructions

If you experience the following symptoms when logging into the DKIST Proposal Architect (PA), we ask that you turn off your VPN and try again.

Symptoms:

You click on the PA LOG IN button; you log in via Globus (or pass through Globus if you are already logged in); you are automatically returned to the PA URL (https://proposals.dkist.nso.edu/list) and a blank page appears in your browser; you are not able to successfully log into the PA.

Solution:

Log out of your VPN and try logging into the PA once more.

If you still have issues, please file a Help Desk ticket. It would be helpful for the Help Desk to also know what type of VPN you are using and the virus protection software active on the machine you are using.

If you are using a different VPN than the NASA VPN and you are experiencing PA login issues, please file a ticket with our Help Desk so that we can be made aware of other VPNs which cause issues with our PA software.
