Coudé Enable

The primary key Aa, is used to enable Coudé Azimuth Rotation. There are two Aa keys located in the control room. Removing either or both of the Aa keys will disable Coudé Azimuth Rotation.

Ground Floor

To access the Ground Floor inner pier, you will need to remove the key Aa. This will disable Coudé rotation. The primary key Aa is inserted into the key exchange unit located by Mezzanine Level doors to the pier. Inserting the Aa key will release two Ba personnel keys. The Ba personnel keys must be taken by personnel entering the Mezzanine Level Pier.

Mezzanine Level

To access the Mezzanine level pier, you will need to remove the key Aa. This will disable Coudé rotation. The primary key Aa is inserted into the key exchange unit located by Mezzanine Level doors to the pier. Inserting the Aa key will release two Ca personnel keys. The Ca personnel keys must be taken by personnel entering the Mezzanine Level Pier.

Coudé Lab Full Speed Enable

The primary key Da, is used to limit Coudé azimuth rotation speed to 0.5­°/s. The key Da is located in the control room. Removing the Da keys will limit Coudé azimuth rotation speed. Inserting the Da key into the lockbox by the door to the Coudé Lab will release three personnel safety keys Ea. Each individual entering the Coudé Lab must take a personnel safety key with them. If additional personnel safety keys are needed, an Ea key can be inserted into a key exchange unit that releases six additional keys. This allows for a total of eight people to be in the Coudé Lab.

Removing the primary key Da does not prevent Coudé azimuth rotation.

Removing the primary key Da does not prevent hazardous instrument motion.
