Enclosure Aperture Cover Timeout Fault details

Enclosure Aperture Cover Timeout Fault details

Recurring problem with GIS Aperture Cover Interlock:

To protect M1, under one of several conditions, GIS sends a ‘Close AP Cover’ to ENC _LIC / EMCS PLC

When GIC commands Aperture Cover to close it cannot be opened until GIS Reset.

When Aperture cover reaches either limit the drive control unit issues a fault. Drives are not operable until faults are cleared by EMCS Reset.

Aperture cover drives stop when end of travel limit sensors are active. The same sensors report position to EMCS, the drive control unit and ENC_LIC (via separate inputs).

135 seconds after GIC commands Aperture Cover closed', if the Aperture Cover is not closed, a fault is issued. This requires GIS Fault Reset. By a quirk of the logic GIS reset must be issued two times.

TLDR

When GIC commands Aperture Cover to close, then at the end of the movement:
Click EMCS Reset (from HMI or pendant)
Click GIS reset from TIM HMI.

Use only the the graphical GIS reset icon on the TIM HMI. Other reset buttons will not reset faults.

Wait a few seconds.
Click GIS reset from TIM HMI again.

The GIS must be reset twice to clear all faults.
