Coude axis is locked and will not operate

Problem

After restoring power to the Coudé following some work, the Coudé status showed "locked" in red on the MCS. Azimuth position was flashing yellow. GIS was reset and the Coudé interlock screen was clear.

Corrective Action

Using Remote Desktop, log in to Coude engineering virtual machine (10.3.1.13, user atst-devel) from the control network (any of the HLS machines should be able to access it). The engineering interface should already be open, otherwise open the "blue blocks" icon. The interlock status should be red and hovering over it will tell you the reason (in this case it was main power). Click the Acknowledge Interlock button on the left side of the engineering screen. This should clear the interlock and allow normal function.

More information

On the engineering interface both the azimuth position and cable wrap position were red. On MCS the Coudé Az position was flashing yellow.

Hovering over the red Interlock indicator at the top of the engineering interface will show a popup indicating the nature of the interlock. In this specific case it was “swi_mainPow”, indicating the main power was a problem.

There are certain positions where the hard stops will hit the side of the shock absorbers if the GIC goes down. For example: hard stops automatically deploy when the GIC is disabled, for instance during programming. so we try not to park at those locations. See Coudé Rotator Hard Stops for critical azimuth locations to avoid.

This same issue could potentially apply to the telescope axes as well. The resolution is the same, except the Telescope engineering virtual machine is at 10.3.1.12.
