Collect motor data for Mount drives

Mount motor data

Motor data for Mount and Coude are always collected.

Four parameters are logged:

  • Torque %

  • Torque Nm (Newton-meters)

  • Speed

  • Position

Data can be viewed in real time or from a historical log.

Historical data can be downloaded to the HMI client computer in a file format for Excel (.xlsx)

Open the EMCS HMI.
From the main page: Click “More screens”

On the “More screens” page click any of:

  • TMA Azimuth drive charts:

Motor chart screens

The three screens are similar, one for each of:

  • Mount Altitude

  • Mount Azimuth

  • Coude

There are 4 charts:

  • Torque - %

  • Torque - Nm (Newton-meters)

  • Speed - RPM

  • Position - degrees

Select “Historic data”

The top left drop-down box lets you select “Realtime” or “Historic”.
Select and click “Historic”.

Select motor data

The column at left is a list of all pens on the chart. Click to select or unselect only the data that you want to see or download.

Select chart mode

The chart default mode is “Fixed”. This makes a better fit for the chart when some data points are missing.

Select and click “Raw”. The charts displays only actual data points and does not fill in the blanks.

Select time frame for the data

 

Time span for displayed data is shown as beginning and ending time and date.

Left and right arrows move the time

  • Left magnifying glass icon = “Zoom Out"

  • Right magnifying glass icon = “Zoom In”

Blue band can be adjusted using the mouse to select a time span.

(Hint:) hover the mouse pointer over a screen item to see a tooltip about the item.

Select a time span for the data using the keyboard

Enter desired begin and end time / date for the span of data you want to see or download.

Time and Date format must look like this: mm/dd/yy hh:mm AM - mm/dd/yy hh:mm 9:50 AM

If the chart does not update when you enter a new data / time span, check the string for an error.

If you will download data from multiple charts:
After entering the time span data, select the entire string and copy it (<ctrl>C) to your clipboard..

There are 4 modes of display

Zoom (default)

Pan

Mark

x-Trace

Zoom mode

Use the mouse point to draw a box around a region of interest. At top-left of desired data hold the left mouse button down. Then drag the mouse to the bottom-right corner of the region of interestAl

All pen traces will redraw to include only this time span,.

Download selected data

Click on the download icon (bottom icon)

This screen will pop-iup on your computer:

Give the file a name and location. Click “Save”.

In Windows Explorer: Double-click the file to open in Excel

Format time stamp data

Select column A (t_stamp)

From Home tab click > Number > Time > a format that displays seconds

Format motor data

Motor numbers are according to drive designation

Tag names correspond to:

  • Ausl_Ist = torque %

  • M_Ist = torque Nm

  • v_ist = speed RPM

  • p_ist = position degrees

Graphing data with Excel

Select the t_stamp column and any data columns with data to be graphed.

From Insert tab:
In charts: Click line chart
