DKIST General

Operational Status

  • DKIST is in week 3 of observing period OCP 3.1.

SciOps and OpsTools team

Accomplishments

  • OCP 3.1 observing support.

  • Preparing Public Confluence space for the Cycle 4 Proposal Call.

  • Preparing Instrumentation pages for the Public Confluence space in collaboration with Instrumentation Group.

  • Training for SOSs on Duty Engineer tasks continues.

TechOps team

Accomplishments

  • ME Phone Interview and Site interview

  • Draft co-ordination plan issued for Eng2025C and initial discussion.

  • Ice Build and Burn Test completed for follow up to Facility Thermal System Review

  • Survey of UB Mezz Floor Level complete for leak mitigation planning.

Instrumentation team

Accomplishments

  • Providing support to SciOps during OCP 3.1.

Data Center team

Accomplishments

  • Created a time check function in the proposal architect that allows users to see the times until automatic logout and proposal submission closeout.

  • Updated instrument pipelines to use polcal initial guess label from headers instead of parameter store. The fits that produce demodulation matrices are highly dependent on initial guesses that depend on the specific optics in the GOS. These values are stored as pipeline parameters. Soon, experiments will have the ability to change the GOS optics on a per-OP basis to get the best science results. The parameter framework does not support parameters that potentially change on a per-dataset basis, So the solution is to choose the set of initial guesses based on L0 header information instead of a pipeline parameter.

  • Updated the download-authorizer to prevent it from being able to remove the shared public Access Control List (CL) for unembargoed data. This relates to the issue that was just uncovered where heavy users of data were unable to download data due to their reaching a limit in ACLs. Further design and implementation will be required to solve this problem for the long term.

High Level Software team

Accomplishments

  • OCP 3.1 Support

    • Provided on-site HLS and Duty Engineer support. Updated SDO image feed URL to match the new change from SDO.

  • HLS Software Development: Kakou 2

    • Created Docker container prototypes for HLS services and setup a private Docker registry. Created a Grafana Loki Docker configuration for development machines. Rebuilt the DLNIRSP Stargrasp camera interface for Ubuntu 24.04. Added newly requested features to the Solar Open and Close Facility scripts. Expanded automated shutdown scripts to include DHS hardware sequencing, secondary switches and non HLS rack equipment.
