I can't download DKIST data using the Portal - please help.

Summary

This article is for anyone experiencing trouble downloading DKIST data from the Data Center (DC) User Portal. If your data transfer is consistently starting and then failing, please see (Globus transfer issues). If you are having issues with the DC Archive Portal not functioning as expected, please go here.

Data Download Prerequisites

  1. The user must have an active Globus account (see: How to create a globus account (for DKIST data))

  2. The user must be have permission to access the files they want to download during the proprietary period (see: The DKIST Data Access Policy)

  3. The user must have an active endpoint for Globus data transfers (see: Globus Connect & Endpoints)

Steps to Download Data

  1. The user must log into to the DC Portal with their Globus credentials (see: How to log into to the Portal using Globus)

  2. The user should create a filtered list of available data (see: How to Create Filters)

  3. The user should select one or more datasets and place them in the cart (see: How to Select and Use the Cart)

  4. The user begins the download process (see: How to Select Download to Endpoints)

Error/Problem with Download

If the user has followed the steps above and an error occurs, preventing them from completing the download process, the user should submit a Help Desk ticket. Please provide as much information as possible regarding the problem:

  • when did the error occur (when you made the request, or sometime after)?

  • list your search parameters.

  • list your endpoint.

  • copy/screen grab the error message(s).

  • the Globus email notification regarding the failure.

  • list the operating system and browser details.
